I thought this was an amazing chapter, not only did it help me as an artist but it inspired and helped me as a person. At first I thought it was going to be another boring and way too into itself chapter but I was pleasantly surprised that it most certainly was not. In fact I might go as far as to say I enjoyed reading this chapter, and that’s a first for this book. My favorite part was how the author talked about a class he took at UCLA; he related what he was talking about to the really world and connected me to what he was talking about. I will have to admit that part of the reason I liked this chapter so much is because it really helped me and was relevant to me. When he was talking about little steps and that it is ok to have small goals because it gets you started and that sometimes the hardest part is staring. Or that if you make too big of a goal you will just end up disappointing yourself, by making goals that are realistic you get where you want to go, step by step and you make yourself happy along the way. I think one of my favorite quotes from this is “It’s not that your goal is too big, but the steps are.” I really think that applies not only to art but to everyday life. SO in conclusion, this is by far the best chapter in the book so far.
On a side note: I found the website for the book and the program the author is part of. It look pretty interesting. (http://www.caylang.com/)
Glad you like the chapter. You are right - starting small is the thing.
