Chapter Three

· In chapter three Lang talks about setting goals, starting with small goals that feel very achievable and then allow them develop into larger goals as your confidence grows. It will help you ease into achieving greater goals for yourself. Lang emphasizes not creating for others but rather creating what holds meaning for you and your work will then speak to others.

· Empower yourself as an artist, there are more options available than you think.

· Gain clarity about what you really want

· We are your own greatest enemy. Self talk ‘how can I do this!’

· Artists tend to concentrate on making art, not concerning themselves or with business matters, but that doesn’t mean they can’t do both!

· Artists are first and foremost creative people; creativity applied in any arena transcends whatever apparent limitations there are. Creativity, by definition changes everything.

Guidelines for the business world.

· Make the art first, and then find the market.

· Don’t try and second-guess the market

· Access your art in terms of the market place

· Make strategic choices
